In 2012, Xavier G. Buck competed and earned a spot on the Long Beach Youth Poetry Slam Team. With the training and support of five dynamic women, the team competed in Brave New Voices. After leaving California for New York City, his poetry altered from focusing on broad definitions of race to individual personalities and stories that describe what black was, is, and can be. He often writes and speaks about race, police brutality, and gentrification within broader historical contexts, but is not limited to such topics. Please click the "Contact" page to request Xavier G. Buck to perform at your next event.
